It has been open since August but we haven't done a feature on the latest addition to Caesars Palace.

Thanks to some room shots from Harrah's Entertainment, we were able to round up enough shots to make it worthwhile.

The new tower added 949 rooms in 26 stories, right on the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. The project includes about 50 extra large suites. All the rooms feature floor to ceiling windows, plasma televisions, and deluxe furnishings. Great view of The Mirage, TI and Wynn in one direction and some of the best sight lines for the Fountains of Bellagio on the other.

One important distinction in the Augustus Tower is management's decision to play down the Roman theme. Splashes and hints of the heritage are present but replacing Caesar is dark wood, marble and high tech gadgets. Expect to see the property even more 'de-themed' over the coming year.

Along with the new tower comes a new lobby, replacing the temporary lobby that has served the resort for the last year. The new lobby is grand and appealing, featuring large open spaces.

A new French restaurant from acclaimed chef Guy Savoy is set to open in early 2006. The 'Augustus Cafe' opens on to the lobby and features 'coffee shop' type food.

Rates in the new tower are at the high end of what the resort has to offer, sometimes over $300/night.
