This Las Vegas Sun article has some interesting new info on what may happen at the Trop, including a rendering of the new building.

I didn't see a rendering of the building on the Sun's website. Was it in the printed newspaper?
AZR has done well over the past five years but has lagged for the past year. I believe management's hesitation to do something with the Tropicana is the cause. They've waited too long. AZR has done well with the Atlantic City Trop expansion with its "The Quarter" retail and entertainment center, but they can't follow that path in Las Vegas. Someone will buy out the company and build a new casino/hotel/complex, in my opinion.
I meant to say casino/hotel/condo/timeshare complex.
The rendering was linked from the top of the article, where the Sun usually puts the photo links, under the headline:

I was looking at the rendering, and was wondering, is this a new tower that will be built in place of one of the existing towers, or is it just a redo to the existing tower? Also, why don't they come up with a new resort, instead of keeping the Tropicana, don't we all remember the last hotel to do implode and then rebuild using the same name.
