The rumors regarding Steve Wynn wanting to take over creative control of Le Reve are correct.
Today the company reported that they have purchased Dragone's interest in the Le Reve production for just over $15MM.
Supposedly Steve wants to add lasers, special effects and pyrotechnics to the show.

This should be interesting.
I guess I should get on down there and see the original vision before it's lost to explosions and the sharks-with-frickin-lasers tank, then.
I thought this show was doing better? Well, far better than Ave Q anyway. I know it bombed with the critics but then I heard it was doing better ticket sales than expected.
No profit again next quarter!
This just sucks. Definately one of my favorite shows. I like that it is a little different, dark, and edgy compared to other shows on the strip. I appreciate Wynn wanting to have "the" resort with "the" premier show on the strip. Unfortunately, great shows like Avenue Q and Le Reve don't quite generate the buzz he was looking for.
Bring on the white tigers!
Le Reve must still be struggling. An LV Sun columnist reported that Wynn employees are being incentivized to sell tickets:
"Speaking of tickets (or, rather, writing about them), Wynn Las Vegas is offering an uncommonly generous 10 percent commission to its staff for selling tickets to shows at the hotel. At the moment that covers "Le Reve," and this is either a way to reward aggressive ticket selling or to boost tepid sales for the show, or both. Also, we're told that the opening for "Spamalot" will not be until the spring of 2007 at the earliest. It was originally scheduled to open in February"

Looking at Wynn's own site, it's obvious they're pushing Le Reve with rich imagery and it being the center selection (it wasn't before).
I'm still waiting on it. I can't get myself to see it now knowing it'll be drastically different a few months down the line.
