Bellagio's Fontana Lounge WILL Re-Open in December 2007

So, there's another story here on the site that was posted recently about Fontana closing... Well, we've learned that the closing is NOT for good, just for the balance of the year. It will be used for private gaming as other parts of the casino are remodeled... Look for Fontana to return in December 2007.

When it DOES re-open, there will no longer be food served due to the genius of the NV Clean Air Act.

I was just going to update the other story but a few other sites picked up on this and I wanted to make sure they got the updated info as well.

So - that's the story and I'm 100% confident in the sourcing on this one.

Hunter, that's great news. I was expecting the worst especially after Bellagio's website deleted Fontana from the list of lounges and bars.

"Rumors that the Bellagio was permanently closing the Fontana Lounge seem to be misguided. When the property closed the popular lounge last week, whispers ran rampant; it now appears that the property has plans to re-open the venue in December, and will use it as a private gaming area while renovations take place elsewhere on the casino floor."
Eye also has news on LURE at Wynn:
"If you want to party in LURE Ultra Lounge (Wynn Las Vegas) one last time, Saturday, July7th will be the final night for the plush lounge before beginning construction quite literally Sunday morning. They will also be hosting one final 'Industry Wednesday' on July 4th. When LURE reopens it will be with an entirely new look and new name."

Wynn's got it wrong on this one. Ultralounges have simply fallen out of favor to nightclubs. I can't recall the last time I saw Caramel, Tabu, or the like crowded. I don't think it'll be the same kind of hit that Tryst was.

I'd say a real lounge like Bellagio's Baccarat Bar would be more successful in that space.

I agree. I do a reader Q&A thing on the main RateVegas.com site and one of the questions I get ALL the time is where older folks (and by that I really mean people that are sick of people our age in the clubs) can go for nightlife - good music that isn't super loud, drinks, maybe some light dancing, no attitude... There is demand for a product like this. I know because my iPhone told me.

I always figured that sort of thing was found at the Stations and now that new thing at the Four Queens. Usually when the advertise 80s music or 80s tribute bands (which the locals chains seem to do a lot), you can guess that it's going for an older clientele.

The Fontana Bar at Bellagio has not been the same since they got rid of Jimmy Hopper. He was the best they have ever had in there. I have stopped going to Bellagio at all.
