New Frontier To Be Imploded November 13th

Posted by Hunter

According to our friend Steve Friess of The Strip Podcast, the New Frontier is set to be imploded on November 13th, probably at some ungodly hour of the morning.

It's not public yet (well, I guess it is now) but it sounds like he checked his sources, showing off yet again that he is a real reporter. Come on, Steve - bloggers don't need to FACT CHECK. Heh.

Anyway, discuss below...

At THE WORST possible time for me too. I'm already guessing Brian's got his ressies set up at Wynn: Strip view, low floor please."

If somebody's holding a party here, well, I'm game.

Hunter and Steve, thanks for the news.

On another note, anyone see Liz Benston's article in the Sun today, comparing Wynn's numbers to the other premier Strip properties? Thought it would be of interest:

hail2skins, that was commented on just about an hour ago in the Wynn Interview thread.

Not trying to be strict, just hoping to streamline conversations and not discuss the same article in multiple threads, since that's confusing and this is about Frontier anyway.

Is it really necessary to do an implosion? It's not that big of a building, why can't they just dismantle it piece-by-piece, like occurs on old 20 story buildings in Chicago? Less dust to fall on the lush Wynn property...

Wasabi - No, this piece of trash deserves explosives! I don't I can make it out actually, but one never knows, It could happen possibly.

I just checked rates, and I don't see me spending $500 a night to watch it fall.

I hate to sound like a know it all, but I figured this would come down this year. All the people were saying it would come down next year, and It made no sense to close it this soon, if that were the case. This makes more sense. I can't wait to see an empty piece of land across from Wynn. Its just going to be amazing to see that intersection in 4 years! Wow, how things can change in Vegas in a such a short time.

Brian, be sure you're looking at Monday night and not Tuesday--the rates are a bit less. I made the same mistake when curious about room rates.

Well I think the 13th is the perfect date for it to come down, it's my Birthday and I'll be celebrating it in Las Vegas - hopefully now with an implosion and fireworks

In this RJ story about Elad hiring David Wade as COO for the Plaza project, they mention that the New Frontier will be imploded this fall, but don't give an exact date.

Uh, I meant "Daniel" Wade.
