It is strange to see the main Strip porte cochere and foot traffic entrance looking relatively barren on the outside, albeit six months out. From the guy who brought us the waterfalls outside Mirage, the pirate village outside TI, the Italian village and lake outside Bellagio, and even the waterfall and the bridge outside the entrance to the esplanade at Wynn, I guess I'm expecting to see something at least somewhat ornate at the LVB entrance. I guess we'll see....maybe Steve will take Chuck's "inflatable gorilla" idea into consideration!
Why stop with an inflatable gorilla? Somebody must have the IP rights to the giant mechanical gorilla that was, at various times, proposed to climb up and down the Stratosphere.

Great photos. I'm with hail2skins. Will we see anything interesting at the Strip porte cochere?
What really jumped out at me is how close the porte cochere is to the Strip. Will there be traffic back-ups onto the roadway? I know it's not done yet, but the Strip entrance looks non-descript to me.
The Strip side entrance immediately reminded me of the Desert Inn (the way it last looked). Perhaps that's Wynn's homage to the old Vegas strip?

So I'm just taking a shot at this, but maybe Steve is not doing much of anything on the Strip side. Instead maybe they are concentrating all their efforts to the pool area. Everything you can see from INSIDE the hotel. Just like the Lake of Dreams over at Wynn. Making people come inside the hotel to see something spectacular. It seems to me that wherever you are inside the resort you will be able to see the pool area. Just a thought! What do you think?

I have to agree with Hail. The inside of Encore better really blow me away, because the outside lower podium is about as plan as I've seen anywhere in Vegas. I realize its not about the exterior, but it does matter somewhat, as it sets the feeling as you see and enter the building. I know they didn't have much room, but this is Vegas, the outside needs to be appealing as well. But you could not have stated it better, the Volcano Mirage, the Village at TI, Bellagio, and now we have this? I really hope Steve has some tricks up his sleeve with Encore. It lost the covered pool, which I thought was a different and somewhat cool idea. In six months, we shall see. And yes Mr. Wynn, I am very curious.

Seeing pictures of the constructed pool (on the vegas today/tomorrow site), not sure if any of you feel the same way, but Wynn's idea of the pool being visible from the casino floor, there really doesn't seem to be that much window space, aren't all those buildings that u-shape around the pool the convention space rooms? If so, that only leaves one wall of glass for the casino. Just speculating here as nobody knows the layout yet.
The glass wall in the casino will be the East wall of the low-rise building, looking over the pool complex.

Could there possibly be a set of two glass walls with that semi-saucer dividing them? That way, one portion of the casino will overlook the crescent-shaped pool and the other will overlook the oval-shaped one.

Take this photo from VT&T:

You actually can't see the casino glass wall here - it would be right off the frame to the left.
If you look at this older photo:

Oh, absolutely. I wouldn't be surprised to see that element repeated in many of the surrounding walls.
But why did the wynn call the second tower 'encore,' can't they be more original or something. How about mini-me..
