Last night was the opening of the new Cirque du Soleil show 'CRISS ANGEL Believe' at Luxor. The show features illusionist Criss Angel's magic combined with the artistry that we know from Cirque.
Well, it seems that CDS' run of perfection may be over, at least if they don't end up completely re-working the show that premiered last night.
Many of the reviews are in and they're not great.

Reviews for Zumanity weren't overly strong to start either, or Le Reve for that matter. Not to say it might bomb, but I wouldn't bet that it would just yet.
Just one guy's opinion, but I can't wait till this phase of Vegas is over. Bring back traditional Vegas entertainers and traditional Vegas shows a la Jubilee. Same with the trendy night club scene in Vegas, the quicker it goes the better.
This sounds awful from what I have read, even worse than Zumanity. I my opinion there are too many Cirque du Soleil shows, so this one not being a success would not be a bad thing.
Also if it is a dud it will the crowning acheivement of 'new' Luxor!
To put it mildly, the show wreaks of desperation.
If anyone tells you the show is good, ask them how much of a kick-back they're getting from MGM/Mirage.
Actualy it may be the second steaming pile from Cirque. That Zaia show at the V in Macau is lackluster as well. It was my first cirque show actualy, and I left really as "bleh!".
It could be a gambling culture thing, or simply s bad show, but the locals seem to be agreeing as well with their feet.
Has MGM Mirage gotten so lazy that they fill all of their hotels with the same entertainment company? Would it kill them to look around for something new and original?
If the show is as bad as it is being reviewed I am curious to see what the solution is. Will they just straight cancel it or maybe remove an aspect (be it Criss or Cirque) Sounds like a lot of money was put in to it and something is going to have to change. But I can't see Luxor/MGM letting a stinker like this stick around.
The LA Times gutted it, too. One of the RJ's page3 guys who I normally don't care about said that he went in with no expectations whatsoever after all the negative reviews and it was a disaster.
I saw a preview show 3 weeks ago, and it was the worst show I have seen. my GF is a huge fan of CA and she fell asleep. !!!!
It is disjointed, looks like Cirque influences CA way too much. They are not a good fit
This show was so, so bad I don't even know where to begin. I honestly went with an open mind; despite the dreadful reviews thus far. One positive thing I can say is that the theater is absolutely beautiful--and that's about it, as far as praise goes. First of all, there was so much smoke in the theater (to cover the trap doors and wires) that I could hardly tell the difference between Criss Angel and the robotic rabbits jumping around. Second, the plot (if one existed at all) was completely UN-recognizable. The "Nick and Jessica Variety Show" (as amateur as it was) had a bigger WOW factor. Third, if for some odd reason, Cirque has decided to add LIVE animals to their otherwise flawed reputation, could they please find another way to rid the doves from the stage besides having them fly into the walls and drop to the seats in the back of the theater when they miss the hole in the wall? Unacceptable. Forth, may I suggest Criss Angel lose the potty mouth and delete the break-dancing parts of the act? How in the world Cirque du Soleil and/or Luxor has lowered themselves to this deplorable level is beyond my wildest imagination. Anyone touting that BeLIEVE is worth $99, $125 or $150 of your hard earned money is clearly on the Luxor or Angel payroll.
