Big thanks to mofobes of This Ain't Iowa for posting a photo tonight of a disemboweled Pocket Park at Aria.
Huh? Jimbo's favorite part of the whole complex, all ripped to bits?
Perhaps just a little 13 month renovation? That is the normal schedule to renovate a resort feature, after all - we all know that.

Oh poor jimbo, hope the renovation has been completed to your satisfaction now !
If they hold true to the MGM philosophy, no doubt this space will be re-purposed to maximize revenue-generation. Coming soon: Sunglass Hut
Maybe they're going to build the enclosed connection between Crystals and Aria that people have been clamoring for here?
I liked the concept... the problem is you had a little park-like space to "sit and contemplate," that was basically a busy transit point between Aria and Crystals. If they wanted little parks for couples to schmooze, they should have put them at less trafficked points around the property (CityCenter has plenty of empty pedestrian areas outside). I was always somewhat defensive of the urban design ambitions of CityCenter, but the reality is they were implemented so half assed, it's hard to defend them. As joked about already, I think the bottom line goals of MGM will always conflict and water down the "urban experiment" aspects of City Center.
The 'fountain' looks to be staying with the plastic on top of it. Looks like they have doweled in some rebar into the existing concrete. hmm more concrete / concrete benches? A place to enjoy a $5 latte?
Given all the hype and touting by Murren of the pocket park, I'll be astounded if they take it out. I'm guessing they had water seepage or cracks developing in the floors beneath and were forced to redo it.
I am interested to see the finished product - will you be posting photos?
Yup, absolutely plan to.
Not too shocking, just shocked they didn't try to fix all the other exterior issues before ripping out something that at least looked a quater-way decent. Maybe if they are adding an outdoor bar they can call it BARia.. haha I am so funny. I am actually kind of shocked there isn't already a BARia considering there is a BarVdara across Harmon.
Hey Casino Design,
Since you guys did the redesign for Soboba casino, can I assume that you worked on the proposed Horseshoe Grande project??
Oh no im hoping they can get that fixed soon, i saw the city center last i was there (stayed at Alexis park hotel) and i was really impressed with the city center. Was a nice site to see coming up the street from the hard rock. =0
