Or something like that... Yes, the name change is now approved by shareholders:

MGM Mirage will now be known as MGM Resorts International. Do I change all my category URLs to match? I haven't decided yet but it's certainly annoying.

Lots of coverage of this elsewhere but I thought it was worth posting here as a bit of a benchmark - it's an important date in the history of the company and Las Vegas.

Of course, I'm already on the record as not being a fan of the new name, along with everyone else I've talked to about it. Whatever.

I am not a fan of the name change either.. I think I'll always call it MGM Mirage, and I don't doubt that many others will too. If it were me, I'd just keep all the bookmarks and existing categories as MGM Mirage and perhaps just refer to it as "MGM Resorts" for future topics and posts. It's going to get old seeing "MGM Resorts International" for everything MGM.

I think the new name is awful. We'll see if Aria ever turns a profit and maybe in another ten years we'll be having this discussion about "Aria Resorts International".. Hey that actually sounds better than this new name.

I'm disappointed in the corporate name. As one wag commented on the LV Sun article, the acronym, MRI. is appropriate because MGM needs an MRI.

Who created and approved the name M Life for the players club? It conveys Zero excitement and no connotation of rewards. It could just as well be a nutritional supplement.

Say what you want about Harrah's, but Total Rewards is a great, descriptive name. You immediately think the card has some value for you. Total Rewards is the gold standard in my opinion, or should I say the Seven Stars standard?

Stations' Boarding Pass was a great name when tourists immediately thought of Palace Station with its railroad images. Today, Boarding Pass has no meaning for guests at Red Rock, Green Valley Ranch or other properties. As Station evolves corporately and financially, I bet the name disappears.

I've never understood Wynn's "The Red Card". Is Wynn so exclusive that it doesn't need a descriptive name? Leaves me cold.

LVS' Grazie cards play off the Venetian and Palazzo names and theme, but how meaningful is Grazie to visitors?

24 Karat Club at Golden Nugget has always appealed to me. It sounds rich and obviously ties in with the name. An early home run by Steve Wynn.

Two regional players clubs which are blah:
Pinnacle's "mychoice" and Isle of Capri's IsleOne.

I always liked the Horseshoe Winners Circle name at Horseshoe Bossier City. It's been replaced by Total Rewards.

MGM/Resorts International? Isn't RI the timeshare giant? Does this mean we'll be seeing more of those obnoxious dweebs attempting to con us at MGM properties from now on?

I agree with you Hunter. MGM/Mirage had a certain je ne sais quoi to it. This new name sounds too corporate to me.
