Hi Hunter…
Just wondering if you know how much the cabana rentals at the Wynn cost? We came back home thurs the 15th from a 3 night stay in the luxurious salon suite. Best room I’ve ever stayed in. I didn’t want to leave. We’re going back at the end of October and are interested in reserving one of the cabanas. They’re just so inviting!! My boyfriend and I can’t stay anyplace else not. Great site, by the way!

I don’t have the figures handy but I believe weekends are about $300/day for a normal sized cabana… They also offer half-days which is a nice way to save some money. Thanks for the kind words.

Hunter – hopefully this will be the last time I pester you! We’re keen to try a Las Vegas buffet while we there, and since we’re staying at the Bellagio and it has one of the best (so I see from reviews) it makes sense to try it out. However, I also see from reviews that the queue to get in can be really long – and my partner doesn’t do standing in line very well! Is there any way for Bellagio guests to get a pass to jump ahead of the line? Thanks again for this superb site. Rachel

Line passes are issued but mainly to casino customers, not just hotel guests. If you are playing in the casino, ask a pit boss or floor person for one (a ‘line pass’). If you’re not planning on playing, ask when you check in. Unfortunately they don’t always give these out but it can’t hurt to ask. Hope that helps.

They are nicer than the standard rooms in the old tower by far – if you’re staying at the Palms, which I assume you have a good reason for (free rooms isn’t a terrible reason), it is where you want to be.

Hunter,
We are coming to Vegas for five days in July. We have complimentary rooms at Bellagio (one night,) and Paris and Harrahs (two nights each.) As the rooms are already free, is it tacky to nicely ask for an upgrade at check-in? I wouldn’t necessarily be asking for a “free” upgrade (although that would be nice,) but I would be willing to pay something to get a nicer room. What do you think?

The check-in clerk doesn’t care if you’re paying $0, $5, or $3,000 a night and how much you’re paying almost never has an impact on their ability to give you an upgrade. Feel free to ask – you certainly won’t insult anyone with the request.

Day passes (no services) range in cost from $10 to about $25 depending on the hotel. I haven’t seen these prices discounted other than having the entire visit comped via casino play.

Interesting question… No I don’t. You can usually estimate room service prices based on the hotel. For instance, room service for one (say, a steak sandwich) at Bally’s will probably run you about $30… At Bellagio, maybe $40 and at Wynn Las Vegas you might spend $45 or $50. Nicer hotels mean more expensive room service but also food of a much higher quality.

I was wondering, I’m taking my parents up to Vegas next weekend, as a gift for their anniversary. My question is, would it be possible for the check-in clerk, to upgrade us to a two-bedroom tower suite, or is that just too much to ask?
I’ve seen all the upgrade questions on the site, but I was wondering if I might be able to get away with it, just once.

This is at The Mirage… I’m assuming since you didn’t mention it that you are in a standard room? It’s an extreme long shot, verging on the ludicrous. Even if you were in a one bedroom Tower or Penthouse Suite, it would be tough (but not insane or impossible). Hope this helps.

Hunter first time to the site and i am very impressed with the info. My question is that i have booked a reservation at the Wynn at the beginning of August. Just there standard resort room, i got a great deal through southwest vacations. I’m wondering since this an upscale hotel if there has been much luck that you have heard of on upgrades when i check in, not for a view upgrade but possibly there tower suite. Also any suggestions on there night club, perhaps getting free passes at check in as well, of course by tipping when i check in. Thanks in advance

Thank you. I’m actually writing this response from Wynn’s 57nd floor, so it seems very appropriate. Upgrades are possible, sure. As with other hotels, it really depends on what is going on and what kind of room inventory they have. You never know but certainly ask, or if you’re so inclined, tip. As far as access to Tryst, they sometimes offer passes, yes. Even with a pass, you’ll be waiting in line unless you reserve a table.

My boyfriend and I enjoy eating at restaurants where couches are used for seating as he prefers to sit beside me than across a table. I am trying to find a restaurant with good food- with not necessarily pocketgouging prices that would have such seating arrangements. We are staying at the Wynn south tower if that is of any help.
Secondarily we would like to know if there are any quiet non-smoking lounges , with soft music that would also have this sort of seating.

Hmmmm… Let’s see if I can whip up some suggestions – this isn’t something I’ve spent very much time thinking about in the past. SW Steakhouse at Wynn has seating in this configuration if you so desire but the restaurant isn’t inexpensive. They may give you a hard time about being seated this way if the place is extremely busy as it takes up a bit more space. Wynn’s Terrace Pointe Cafe, the ‘coffee shop’, includes bench seating as well. As far as lounges, I don’t know of any that are non-smoking. Sorry.

I am planning a trip in August. Our last trip out we stayed in the tower suite at the mirage, we thought it was great.

The room at Mandalay Bay is larger… I personally feel that The Mirage offers better service and a better experience but that is somewhat subjective. LOVE, the new Cirque show based on music of The Beatles, just opened at The Mirage and I do recommend that show. The thing about Mandalay that bothers me the most is the feeling of isolation I get when I am down on that end of the Strip – I like being closer to the action.

Hi again! I have a reservation at the Bellagio and I have the opportunity to upgrade to a Lakeview Room for $50 more a night, is it worth it and what kind of view am I actually getting? Also have you seen Zummanity or heard anything about it? Thanks!

If it is a ‘Lakeview’ (not ‘Partial Lakeview’), then this means you’ll be in the main hotel tower with a view overlooking the lake and fountain show. Personally, I think this is one of the real treats of staying at Bellagio, getting to see the fountains again and again. There is even a channel on the TV that plays the music for you… I recommend the lake view rooms, yes. I have seen Zumanity and it is not a show I usually recommend. Instead of risque and exciting I felt it was a bit contrived and boring. Friends of mine actually walked out. I didn’t think it was that bad but other CDS shows like Mystere or O are better. LOVE at The Mirage is a CDS show based on music of The Beatles.

Hunter, I am looking for some way to purchase passes for the Bellagio Buffet as a gift. I do not want gift certificates with monetary value. I have already asked the concierge at the Bellagio about this and they said the only way is to purchase gift certificates. Do you know how I might go about obtaining these? Should I try contacting a host? Thanks!

Yeah, sorry… The concierge is correct. They only sell gift certificates and comps/line passes aren’t for sale (at least legitimately). Now, if you have a host already and a good relationship, they would probably gift you the buffet passes but other than that, your only choice is a gift certificate.

Hunter, took your advice and booked a Tower Suites Parlor room at the Wynn. I am quite excited as this will be my 3rd trip back to Vegas from the East Coast. My question is, why on websites like tripadvisor is the Wynn ranked like 20th? I mean are there any real significant negatives? I dont care about price and what not, so what gives with all the people complaining about it. Thanks and you are the best around.

I think Wynn Las Vegas is the nicest hotel in town and it is always my first choice when I stay (checking in tomorrow!! Whoo-hoo!). It is expensive and some people will ding it for that… I can’t say why it would rate low. I feel extremely confident recommending it. Of course no hotel is perfect and each experience may vary a bit (some people may have a bad experience for whatever reason). If something does go wrong, my recommendation is to tell someone. Call the hotel manager. Explain the problem. In my experience, they fix these things if they are aware of them. Have a great time – I’m sure you’ll love it there. Hunter – love the site. All the info is extremely helpful. I need some help. Our flights are booked for a mid-July bachelor party of 4-6 people, only one of which has been to Vegas before. What are the best hotels to stay at for a bachelor party of this size. We would like to spend around $250-$350 per night and all stay in one room so we have more cash to spend on gambling and the dancing ladies. Any club recommendations? VIP Passes vs. hosted entry vs. bottle service? We like to drink, gamble, soak up the sun by the pool, ect…basically your standard bachelor party tomfoolery. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks. I had so much fun at my bachelor party and since then I really enjoy helping people set up theirs. Rates are going to vary so I’m going to make some suggestions for places to check and the types of rooms to look at. These aren’t in order of importance… 1. The Mirage: look for a Tower Suite (one or two bedroom), Penthouse Suite (same as tower only higher up and a little nicer), Hospitality Suite (maybe. this is good for having room parties). 2. Wynn Las Vegas: the newest and nicest place in town might sound unreachable but prices can sometimes be really low on the suites: Salon Suite (one or two bedroom), Parlor Suite (one or two bedroom). 3. Treasure Island: luxury suite. 4. Any suite at The Palms (I’m not a huge fan but it is good for bachelor parties), 5. Any suite at the Hard Rock (see note on The Palms)… That list should get you started on choices. If those don’t work out and you want to spend a little less, look at Aladdin and Bally’s. Often good deals there. As far as the clubs go, Jet (Mirage), Tryst (Wynn), Light (Bellagio) and Tao (Venetian) are all blazing right now. A friend returned this Sunday from Vegas and saw a show called Fire and Ice at Caesars. I have been on many websites printing out things for our friends who are going in July (they are in there 60’s and don’t have the computer knowledge). I never saw any advertisement for the Fire and Ice show. Are there any other unadvertised shows which are for free that I can direct them to? thanks again for your help.

Howdy. Hotels will sometimes have performers or shows that they don’t list on their Web sites for whatever reason. These are usually temporary shows that perhaps play one or two nights only. There really is no centralized resource for this sort of thing but if they pick up a ’What’s On’ magazine in their hotel room or on the Strip, they often contain information on everything that’s playing in Vegas during that week.

Now we need to know if booking our next trip at Monte Carlo was the best choice. We normally stay at Flamingo but got the same deal at Monte this time. Decided to try it. Now we wonder if that was wise, maybe we should cancel. Can you use the 20 dollar trick there? It did work for us at Ceasars.

My opinion of Monte Carlo is that it is very ‘meh’. By that I mean that there are really no identifiable aspects to the property that make it stand out. Service is fine, the rooms are reasonable and the place is well kept. The location is good and often there are good deals to be had… You won’t hate it but I doubt you’ll consider it the best hotel you’ve ever stayed in either. I wouldn’t worry about having a ‘bad’ experience, per se. I’ve seen the $20 trick work there, yes – it is possible! Of course, no guarantees. Have a nice trip!

Basically these shows revolve around the performer hypnotizing people and making them do embarrassing things in front of the crowd. I have heard that his show is mildly amusing… Personally it isn’t really my kind of thing so I might not be the best person to ask.

No special treatment for guests other than advance booking – something that won’t help you now… They have an overflow line just like the other Cirque shows and since LOVE is still in previews, I would expect it to be shorter than say, the line for O. I’ll be in town in a few days and I might see the show as well.

You’re right that those months can be busy. Between CES (convention in early January), the Superbowl, Chinese New Year, Valentines Day and March Madness, we’re talking all events that fill up the town. As far as when specifically to go, the second week of January can be pretty dead as the CES folks leave. Also, early February can be okay… It really depends and your best bet is to check one or two hotel Web sites for the period you want to go.

I try to help… Sometimes I have to do some research but I can usually come up with an answer… The Signature is still very new. They’ve only been taking guests for a matter of weeks and MGM Grand is positioning it as a high end product so they are likely to offer deals in the main hotel before they discount The Signature. As far as nice suites go, every hotel has them. Some hotels have jacuzzi suites such as Monte Carlo, Luxor, Imperial Palace, NYNY and MGM Grand. Others hotel suites focus on luxury, such as Wynn Las Vegas, The Venetian, Bellagio and The Mirage. It really depends on where you want to stay and how much you want to spend – Las Vegas can accommodate pretty much any need. Hi, I have a couple of questions. I will be staying the Wynn next week in a resort room, Is there really a bad view in any of these rooms? Also what Casino’s on the strip offer 3-2 payout on multideck Blackjack with low limits? Also how long would it take to walk from the Wynn to The Mandalay Bay? And from the Wynn to the Venetian (I know they are next door to each other)?

No bad views really. I guess a really low floor could be a bummer but otherwise, you’re in good shape. The Resort Rooms are on the North side of the building so if you’re on the Strip side, you should have a good view looking South and of the airport/city on the golf course side. As far as a 3:2 21 game on the Strip, you can still find shoe games at most major hotels, Wynn included. You’ll find minimums in the $10-15 range and for double-deck 3:2 games you’ll see minimums starting at $50 and more. The walk from Mandalay Bay to Wynn Las Vegas took me about an hour and I walk pretty fast – it is further than it looks… To the Venetian, maybe 10 minutes… They are next door but you have to walk around the Palazzo construction site.

Hey Hunter, you may not know the answer but I thought I’d ask. I’m only 19 years old but I’m really interested in hotel management and real estate development. And what better place is there than Las Vegas? I am starting my sophomore year in college this fall but I would love an internship at a hotel next summer. I know the Venetian does intern programs but I would rather be at Wynn. I looked at their employment site but couldn’t find anything. Hope you can help!

Howdy… All the Vegas hotels do internships but most don’t advertise them. They typically run the programs through UNLV, with the better hotels (Wynn, Bellagio) taking the top students. If you’re seriously interested in hospitality, there are basically two schools that have the monopoly, UNLV and Cornell. Maybe consider doing a year at UNLV? I realize that’s a big commitment. Either way, if you’re serious about it, those are the places to be and for gaming, UNLV has the obvious edge.

sorry, one last question…my friends are going to Ballys in July…wanted to know if they buy show tickets and a hurricane happens along our area and they decide it is best to stay home, will the hotel change the tickets to another date, or do they lose there money….ALSO, another couple is now thinking of going in October or November…they were thinking about the Bellagio or Ballys…will there be any type of construction that would affect them at either resort…they have not made reservations as of yet, so any info will be greatly appreciated..

Most of the time show tickets are non-refundable. Sometimes folks will unload them on E-Bay but that would be their own responsibility. Often shows are booked pretty solid and changing tickets can be impossible. It never hurts to ask for specific policies but do that when purchasing to make sure they understand what they are getting into. As far as construction, neither hotels have major projects going. There is a parking garage going up behind Bellagio and there is construction next door but neither should disrupt their stay. Bally’s doesn’t have any projects going.

I have a few questions about Freemont Street….is it safe…our friends staying at Bally’s need to know where the cab driver should drop them off at…is there a special entrance…any problems they should be aware of…what is there…just the old casino’s and the light show? thanks again for your help.

Fremont Street, Downtown, is safe yes. I probably wouldn’t do too much wandering around on side streets or off of the Fremont Street Experience area, especially at night. It can be a bit seedy… But the FSE itself is totally fine, as are the casinos. You can get dropped pretty much anywhere – for instance they could take a cab to the Golden Nugget and then walk through to Fremont Street. The Nugget is the nicest place downtown. Yeah, downtown is dominated by older casinos and the light show. The casinos offer better odds and deals than those on the Strip.

Do you have any idea about who is the General Contractor, or the main construction company working on Encore (I know the Marnell isn’t doing it). Also, on the blog (on detroits pictures), it looked like Palazzo was building room that would be face to face with the low rise buildings and, even the sub-terranean parking garage, do you have any information saying that this is true or not (I hope it isn’t, or this will be a new low, even for Sheldon Adelson)

Encore is being built by Tutor-Saliba. Ron Tutor is the principal shareholder in Perini, another major builder. As far as The Palazzo goes, typically the lowest level floors in the high-rise are used for offices for exactly this reason.

I’ve just booked a “partial lakeview room” in the spa tower at Bellagio. How far is the spa tower from the main hotel/lobby area? Does it feel like part of the main Bellagio complex or disconnected? Thanks, Mike

The Spa Tower elevators are about the same distance from the front desk as the main elevators are (neither are all that close from check-in). The main elevators are directly off the casino while the Spa Tower elevators are off what is called the ‘Via Fiore’ shops. Does it feel integrated? Yes, it does. By the time you get all the way back to the Spa Tower elevators the only other folks you’ll see is other guests but it’s not all that far… Plus, you have much more direct access to the spa, salon and pool, which is nice. They worked hard to make all the rooms feel the same to avoid a strong sense of guest preference and I think that they succeeded. Hope that helps.

Hi! This is a wonderful site. I am coming to Las Vegas 7/12 – 7/15 for my 5th anniversary and was thinking of staying at the Bellagio in the basic delux room. What is your opinion and do you think there is somewhere better for that price? I had origianlly heard good things about Aladdin but I was nervous about the construction. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the kind words! I like Bellagio – it’s a very nice hotel with good service and a great staff. As far as comparable hotels ‘for the money’, I have no idea what you’re paying and prices can vary widely depending on where you book and even for the same dates when booked from the hotel… Room rates are very, very fluid. I would check rates at Wynn Las Vegas – the hotel is nicer and newer, plus the rooms are bigger. If they are available in the same range, I would pick WLV over Bellagio. Also, check The Mirage to see about either a ‘Tower Deluxe’ room or a ‘Petite Suite’ – if those are available then you’re getting a nice room at what is probably a lower price. By the way, you’re not going wrong if you say with Bellagio. It’s a fantastic hotel.

Thanks to the quick answer of my last question. Have one more. Are there any hotels on the strip with balconies? I’m a smoker but everyone else in the room is not. I’d like a balcony or maybe a hotel where I wouldn’t have to walk a mile to get to a smoking area. BTW..I did look into the Wynn….bit out of my range.

Very, very few. Basically only older hotels and even then it is rare. Bally’s has some rooms with windows that open but you can only step out about one inch. There are some rooms at the Riviera and Sahara that have small balconies. The only nice hotel that I can think of is MGM Grand – they have some two-level suites with outdoor patios that include jacuzzis and BBQs. As far as smoking areas, all Nevada hotels allow smoking in the public areas so the furthest I would think you’d have to go would be the casino at the bottom of the elevator. Hope that helps.

We’re looking at 3 nights in Vegas, a trip to the Canyon, then back to Vegas for couple more days. Not doing much gambling, mostly just wondering around, maybe a little pool time.
Looking for a couple of hotels with beautiful grounds and pool. I may have narrowed it down a bit to the following choices. Need you opinion on 2 of these or others?
Prices are based on 3-night stay. Flamingo for $420, Paris for $600, Mandalay Bay for $530, TI for $600, Mirage for $620.

From your choices I would go with the following order: The Mirage, Mandalay Bay, Paris, Treasure Island, and then the Flamingo as a distant last. Beyond that, did you check Wynn Las Vegas? Sometimes the rates are reasonable and the place is gorgeous.

Hunter, I’m coming in to Vegas on a Wed. and Thurs. and want to hit up some nightclubs. I hear Tangerine is good on Wed. and Tao is good on Thurs. How is the line at these places on these days around midnight, and would it be worth it to use some of the VIP services out there to bypass the line? Let me know what you think about these clubs in general too…some say Tangerine is a sausage fest nowadays, and I also don’t equate overly crowded with good. Thanks a lot for your help! Great site!

On the weekdays, the lines are much more manageable than on weekends. If you stick to the normal line, the wait should be tolerable on Wednesday and maybe a little long on Thursday. Tangerine is under construction so it has been somewhat disrupted. I believe the patio is still closed. Tao is the hottest place in Vegas right now. The venue is HUGE, with a lounge, restaurant and club all under the roof. Generally speaking, they pack these places pretty full and crowded is the name of the game.

Hey Hunter…I assume that’s your name from what I’ve read. Actually my first time to Vegas..plan on doing a couple Cirque shows and maybe a “classic” show. Haven’t booked room yet..going 7/29-8/3. Really don’t want to spend alot on a room..some hotels such as Tropicana, Riviera, Sahara..etc offer “cheap” rates… are these scary rundown places? Would rather preserve funds for the shows and casinos. Also, can one visit pools of hotels (like a daypass?). Thanks! Marc

That’s me! I’ll answer your questions out of order… The only hotel that offers any kind of ‘day pass’ to their pool is the Hard Rock and only on Sundays – they have a pool party called ‘Rehab’. Otherwise, pools are guests only and the good pools have good security. As far as the hotels you mentioned, none are really scary. The Riv and the Sahara are on the North end of the Strip, pretty far from the action. The Trop is in a good spot. All of those hotels are fairly old and thus lack the ritz of a newer place… Based on your description, maybe that’s what you’re looking for? I hope that helps.

Hi Hunter! Do you know if Mandalay Bay or any of the hotels have wifi? I know they provide internet access within the rooms. However, I was thinking rather than being trapped in a hotel room, it’ll be a lot more fun to people watch and work within the hotels coffee/bar areas within/next to the casinos. Any thoughts on the subject?

You’re talking about in the casino or public areas? Generally speaking, no, they do not. If you’re at the Fashion Show Mall, the Apple Store has free WiFi you can use but I’m not aware of any casino that has it available, even in their coffee areas, etc… You’re right, it would be cool. Primarily you get a place to hang out at the pool without having to fight for chairs, space, etc… In addition, the cabanas include a TV, telephone, small fridge (stocked with some non-alcoholic beverages), fruit, etc… You also get better service from the cocktail waitresses. As far as what floor, I usually say the higher the better – to give you the best view… Other than that, you’re already in a guaranteed view room so you shouldn’t have to be too specific as far as what part of the hotel you want to end up in.

hi again been talking to a few people about vegas, and they all say 2 weeks is a bit hectic an dwe would have been better off just staying for 1 and flying to las angeles or somewhere else for the second week to chill, do you think two weeks is too long

Everybody is different. Two weeks is a long time anywhere on vacation. You’ll never run out of things to do in Las Vegas but it might not be a bad idea to break things up a bit… Do a week in Vegas, a few days in LA and then head back to Vegas but instead of staying on the Strip, try and off-Strip hotel/spa like Red Rock Resort (gorgeous). Just a suggestion.

hi, i have just found this site, as me and my husband have booked to go to vegas for the first time, it has just cost us 2,500 for 2 weeks at the nyny but after some reading up on the hotel it dosent sound too good, have we made a big mistake? thanks

Are there nicer hotels in Las Vegas? Sure. Have you made a huge mistake? Probably not. It really depends on what you want from the hotel. The rooms are bit smaller than the newer hotels. The pool really isn’t that great. A lot of folks like the casino quite a bit (I don’t personally like the high ceilings). The location is great. There are some good restaurants in the hotel and many in the general area. The roller coaster can be a bit loud at night but it would probably only bother very light sleepers. Generally speaking, with so much choice in Las Vegas I prefer hotels like Wynn Las Vegas, The Mirage and Bellagio but different people like different things, and for some focusing on a more expensive hotel just isn’t important… If it is your first time in town you will be so floored by everything that there is to do that I doubt you’ll have a problem with your hotel… It’s not like it is a dump or anything like that. It’s a nice mid-level place.

You have been extremely helpful so far. I have another question. Coming in Monday August 7 for 5 nights. My girlfriend wants to see shows and I want to gamble. We are compromising a little bit. Are there any shows Monday through Thursday that you specifically recommend either in general or for a specific night of the week? Thanks a ton.

While most shows are dark at least one night per week, since you’ll be there for 5 nights you can see pretty much anything. Interested in Cirque de Soleil? They have a new show called “LOVE”, based on the music of the Beatles that is opening at The Mirage. Generally speaking there aren’t shows that only run on a specific night.

Thanks! At Bellagio cabanas run $300 for weekdays and $350 weekends. That’s for up to 6 people… If you need space for more, they have larger units available and the prices go up from there. Some hotels, like Wynn Las Vegas, sometimes offer half-day rates. Bellagio does not currently offer a half day program.

Heh, well, I doubt it will be getting any easier. This is a problem at pretty much every hotel and one of the reasons that cabanas are popular with some folks. The new Mirage pool doesn’t open for at least a month.

I’ve been using Google Earth lately, and noticed in the area set aside for Encore, there is a curved line in, what looks like, sand. Is that the location for the Encore tower, or just some random line in the sand (which I doubt)?

As far as I know, what you see there is actually just the trail of dirt from moving in some of the construction equipment – the photos there are from a few months past. The area is now actually torn up and foundations are being dug. We’ll have more info on Encore soon.

I heard that it is not smart to rent a car in vegas if you plan on only staying on the strip because of the bumper to bumper traffic…yet I also heard that the buses are awful & they will be stuck in traffic too, right? Which is the best way to get around the strip besides taxi…that’s too expensive!

Your options include walking, the monorail, the bus and taxi cabs. Traffic can be bad in town (especially at night) so renting a car, taking a cab or using the bus can be slow. Personally I really like walking but I understand that’s not for everyone. The monorail runs along the East side of the Strip, behind the hotels. It is useful when traveling long distances but less so when just hopping between a few hotels. My recommendation is to use a combination of all of the above based on the changing conditions during the day.

I have two questions, first what is the policy on valet parking, is this a short-term parking area, or can I valet park and pick-up vehicle next day (other than my hotel)? Also what may-be the rule for late checkouts? I have a late returning flight at 10:30pm and I am wondering if I should just reserve a cheapo room for that departure day (Shower), or take my chances and see about purchasing a late-check out with hotel? You can leave your car overnight in the valet practically anywhere. If the vehicle is there for more than a week and you’re not a registered guest, they will probably attempt to contact you or move it to another area to free up space. Policies here will vary. Getting a late check-out is a bit of a crap shoot… Sometimes they say ‘No Problem!’, other times they want to charge you (about half the usual rate), and some times they simply say ‘No! Get out!’. One other option to consider is leaving your bags with the bell desk and getting a spa day pass for your hotel – that way you can use the shower and amenities in there and it is less expensive than a room. Some hotels will even give this to you for free when you have a late flight (Wynn Las Vegas has done this for me but only when staying on the Tower Suites side of the hotel).

I am going to Vegas for the eBay Convention & my 17 1/2 yr old daughter & her 16 1/2 yr old friend are coming too but they won’t be at the convention. They will have monorail passes to go see the sites on the strip during the day & they will either be with me at night or in the hotel that we are staying at. Some people are saying that it is too dangerous even during the day…is that true? I mean she is almost 18 & she will be with her friend.

Generally speaking, the Las Vegas Strip is probably one of the safest major tourist centers in the world. As long as they stay on the Strip or on the monorail, there are always so many people around that the possibility of anything bad happening seems remote. I visited Las Vegas many times between 18 and 21 and never had any trouble.

Some fiends want to stay at Ballys while other friends want to stay at Bellagio. Is there a walkway to get back and forth, or do you have to cross main street. How long is the walk to get to each other. Thanks again for all your help. I told my friends about this website and they are going to book through this site. There’s an over-street walkway between the two hotels. Bally’s is set back from the street so I would expect the walk to take 10 minutes max. Not a problem getting between these hotels – they sit across from each other. Thanks for the kind words!
