Hi, My fiance and I are getting married in Las Vegas on August 22nd. We are trying to figure out where to stay for the honeymoon and what would be the most enjoyable experience. We are planning on staying Tuesday night through Friday night (22nd to 26th). Right now, I have two rooms booked. One, a deluxe tower room at the Mirage, and two, a Bellagio suite at the Bellagio. I have debated switching to the Penthouse suite or just a lakeview room at the Bellagio (right now, they don’t have lakeview available in the Bellagio or Penthouse suites). Mirage doesn’t have any nicer rooms available. My fiance is really excited to use the pool and spa at whichever Hotel we stay at. While the Mirage would be cheaper, I am concerned that it is going to have too many kids and that the pool will be more crowded than at the Bellagio. I also am thinking that the service will be better at the Bellagio, particularly if we are staying in one of the suites. That said, my fiance has been a bit more excited looking at the pictures for the Mirage pool than for that of the Bellagio. If anyone can provide any thoughts regarding this situation, I would appreciate it. Is the Bellagio suite worth it? Is the Penthouse suite worht paying some more? Will the Mirage be more crowded than the Bellagio? Will the service be significantly better at the Bellagio? I am totally willing to splurge, but I just want to make sure its worth it. Thanks.

As far as the number of kids, both The Mirage and Bellagio target older audiences – I wouldn’t expect either to have a large number of kids, at least not more than any other property. Both hotels will be crowded – they are two of the most popular in Las Vegas. At the same time, they are well designed and don’t feel cramped or full. Service at Bellagio will be better but not that much better. You feel it more at the standard guest room level, where Bellagio will do stuff like turn-down and at The Mirage you have to be in a suite for that to happen. In my opinion you should go for the best room you can afford without it putting a damper on your other activities. A nice room, especially for your wedding, is something you’ll appreciate. It’s too bad that there are no Mirage Penthouse Suites because that’s what I would recommend. Still, any Bellagio suite will be a winner. I probably wouldn’t stay in the Tower Deluxe room at The Mirage if your other option is a suite – it’s a large difference.

Hello! Staying at the penthouse at the Mirage from Nov. 9th -15th upon your suggestion!
Can you tell us if that is a busy convention time? Also….they could not guarentee us a non-smoking suite, should we be worried?

I think I answered your other question but regarding conventions, looking at the calendar, there are a few folks in town but nothing insane. Maybe 20,000 total conventioneers in town… That’s a drop in the bucket by the way.

Ok… hitting Vegas in November and staying upon your recomendation at the Mirage. Wanted to stay at the Penthouse Suite but am told they cant promise me a non-smoking room ( BOO) so I sadly reserved a tower room where there is only non smoking. However, since I will be biking and hiking for 5 days prior in Utah , we really wanted luxury. Any suggestions?

No worries. Hmmmm… Even the smoking rooms barely have any kind of smell whatsoever – I would say that unless you’re really sensitive to it, you probably wouldn’t notice anything. Plus, many of the suites are non-smoking anyway, probably 60/40 in favor of non. Anyway, it sounds like you made up your mind to do the Tower Deluxe room instead? Or was that a Tower Suite? Technically all preferences at these hotels are ‘requests’ but stuff like non/smoking and queen/king beds are almost always granted. The more space the better so if you won’t be going ‘Penthouse’, then consider a ‘Tower Suite’ (in case that’s not the room you got). Mmmmmm… I’m jealous just thinking about it.

I called the Mirage weighing my options of where to stay to ask about the new pool Bare. They said its tentative to open on Aug.11, but there will be fees regardless of where you stay in the hotel. 10 dollars for women, up to 60 for men during the weekend and then charges for daybeds.. What do you know? This seems insane, based on the websites rendering..

Prices haven’t been publicized yet but that’s along the lines of what I have been hearing and not too far out of line with what other places are charging for similar setups. I agree that the renderings are not very attractive, which is what it sounds like you were getting at.

I currently have a reservation at Wynn in a tower room, I do have a few questions about the pools.. What are the tower pools like? And exactly what kind of food can you get around the pools at Wynn, I have read its only take out sandwiches? We are thinking about renting a cabana wherever we stay for a few days to really enjoy that part of the trip verse gambling all day long.. thanks again!

As a tower guest you have access to all the standard pools plus two pools that are reserved exclusively for the tower folks. They are two small pools on either side of a large general pool on the lower level. They are connected via a bridge. If you have a cabana you have access to greater food choices. If not, the choices are fairly limited but they seem to be experimenting with some more food options.

First off thank you for all your help and insight, my one question is about the famous $20 trick. I am nervous about it like most people for the first time. In your opinion what do you think is the probility of it working at ballys on a Sunday in the middle of September? My guess is that it will be a slow time especially at 10:00 when our plane lands. Or even if ballys has a good track recorded of this trick working. Thank you for all your time and help I also wanted to comment that I have a two night free coupon

Well, it’s a bit of a crapshoot but your chances are probably fair in the situation that you outlined. It has worked at Ballys in the past so it is not out of the question. You never really know – think of it as your first gamble of the trip.

Not really… It’s very up in the air. You might be able to argue that you have the best chance at mid-range properties that typically have a greater amount of better rooms available. At the top end places all of the best rooms are booked. Still, it’s very hard to say.

Is there any difference between Bellagio’s Spa Tower room and Wynn’s Resort room besides size? Things like closet space, sinks, shower/ tub size… Thanks, great site…

Yeah, the rooms are pretty different. In what may have been a bad move, the Spa Tower rooms at Bellagio were designed to match the renovated rooms in the original tower. That means no floor to ceiling windows, not the largest of rooms, etc… I don’t think you’ll find anyone that says when looking at just the standard rooms, Bellagio is better – Wynn’s standard rooms are clearly the winner in size, quality of amenities, the bed itself, and little things like placement and availability of electrical outlets… That kind of stuff.

Hunter, I’ve got one more question.
I’ve booked a Venezia Bella View Suite at $319 a night, in August. My question is, would I have any chance of getting upgraded to a Concierge suite, by asking or using the $20 trick? I’ve read in othe questions, that the chances are slim, but since we have booked a Strip-side view suite, at such a rate, maybe we might have some luck?

Thanks again! As far as getting rooms – book now! Seriously, why wait if you know you want to go? I would book now and if you change your plans, simply cancel. If you book through a hotel Web site, most have zero penalty cancellation policies. As far as tickets, unless you are getting comped seats from a casino, I think EBay is your only shot (and spending the big bucks).

I’m trying to decide which Cirque show I should see in Vegas, Aug. 4-6. Would you reccomend Ka or Mystere? I’ve seen and loved ‘O’, if that helps.

I have seen them all and I would pick Mystere over Ka, hands down. Ka has a more elaborate stage show but Mystere is, in my opinion, the better show and really showcases the human talents of the performers.

Why hasn’t Wynn been able to win a AAA Five Diamond or, at least, a AAA Four Diamond Award? Is it because the property is so new, and it hasn’t really “proved” itself to the AAA inspectors?

Going to Vegas Oct 19-22 (weekend stay) with another couple…want to stay in a 2 BR suite at a 4 or 5-star hotel on the strip…after extensive checking, booked Mandalay Bay’s Parlor suite ($500/nt), since it was lowest priced. Have you stayed at MB’s Parlor suite? Also, I play craps exclusively…do you know of any hotels that comp you based on your craps Odds bets? Thanks for taking the time to answer.

As far as I know, no Strip hotels comp based on the craps odds, just the pass/no pass and come/don’t come bets. The odds don’t have a house advantage. The suite you picked is a nice one. Not the absolutely top of the heap but you shouldn’t be disappointed.

I will be in Las Vegas for Defcon from August 4, 2006 to August 7, 2006. I’d like to stay at the Palace Station hotel, however I’m currently 20 years old and will be arriving the day before I turn 21 (I turn 21 on August 5, 2006). Am I likely to have a problem or be turned away if I book and try to check in on August 4 (when I’m still 20)?

Oh man, that’s kinda funny… Sounds like you’re a white hat hacker so you’re probably familiar with gaming the system a bit. I would call the hotel and ask for their policy, without identifying yourself. It is likely that even if they want you to be 21, they won’t even NOTICE the date. Most people checking the age just look at the year.

Our friends just got back from Caesars, and they loved it. They say thanks for all the info they received from your web site. Now our friends from work are torn between the Bellagio and Caesars for October 30th for a few nights. For standard rooms, they are saying Caesars is better and more updated. Is this true? They need to make deposit on room. Thanks

The term ‘standard room’ at Caesars is a bit meaningless because they have quite a range of standard rooms in various towers. The ‘standard’ rooms in the Augustus (and to a lesser extent the Palace) Tower are more modern than Bellagio for sure. But those rooms are usually more expensive. The standard rooms in Caesars older towers, such as the Forum and Centurion Tower, are smaller and much less luxurious than Bellagio. Also, I consider the entire hotel experience, not just the room – and Bellagio is tops in my mind. So, it depends on what type of room we’re talking about…

5 buddies and I are coming to Vegas March 14 – 19th for March Madness. We used to do our BB betting @ the Stardust because they had (in our opinion) the best sportsbook around. However as you know they’re due to implode it at the end of this year and we are wondering what is the next best sportsbook in your opinion? Since the crowds are crazy the first couple of rounds we are looking for some place that has room (even if you don’t get a seat) to watch multiple games while placing our bets.

There are a lot of good sports books these days but all are crowded. Top books include Wynn Las Vegas and Bellagio for extreme comfort (if you get a seat)… MGM Grand has a brand new book with good food and large screens. Off the Strip you should think about the Las Vegas Hilton, another large book and way out there is Red Rock Resort, which has one of the nicest books I have ever seen. Hope that helps!

This actually happened when my dog ate my wallet. I was wondering if it is an absolute must for me to have my social security card in Vegas or is my drivers liscense good enough.

What is CityCenter?? WHAT is CityCenter?? Just kidding… CityCenter is the largest private development in the history of the United States. It’s an $8 billion project located between Bellagio and Monte Carlo that will include three hotels, condos, shopping and more. It’s construction shouldn’t have any direct impact on Bellagio. We’ve written quite a bit about CityCenter on our blog here.

These days, very few. A few years ago many did allow it but I just did a random sample and all said 21+. If you have a special situation, such as an 18 year old arriving before a 21+ person then sometimes this can be worked around. Call the hotel to set this up. Otherwise, you’re pretty much stuck with some of the Motel-6 type places in the area.

There are jets and it is fairly large – you could fit two people of normal size in it. Still, it is not gigantic. I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place. We’re planning a trip in August and I found a rate at Venetian (Venezia Bella {$242 per night}), and I found a rate at Wynn (Resort Room {$252 per night}). Which one should I choose, I mean, I’ve stayed at both resorts, and I just don’t know if the Venezia rooms are that much better than than the regular Venetian rooms, and if going with the Resort Room at Wynn would be a step down from Venezia at Venetian.

The standard rooms in the Venezia Tower at The Venetian are basically a refreshed version of the rooms in the standard tower. I am personally not a fan of The Venetian and I would stay in Wynn’s basement before I made a reservation at the V… That’s my $0.02.

Is there a web site where I can get specific information on the comping procedures of a specific casino? If I have 150 points at the Hard Rock, how much play is a point? How many points equal a free night stay? Hunter, do you know the specifics on the point system the casinos use?

Not that I know of. Your best bet is to call the casino and ask your questions directly. All of the systems are different – there are no standards here at all. Also, policies change from time to time so for reliable information, go to the source on this one.

There is a separate check-in area, yes. You should have gotten the details in your confirmation email but I’m happy to fill you in. The Tower Suites entrance is off of Sands Road. Do NOT use the main entrance as you’ll be lugging your stuff clear across the place to get to the check-in. There are signs inside the hotel for the ‘Tower Suites’ and this is where you will find the lobby. Tell your cab driver that you want the Sands entrance and you’ll be set.

I’m visiting Las Vegas from the UK in September and have a few questions I hope you can answer for me.
We’re staying at Wynn Las Vegas in a resort room is there a particular floor or view which we should request or avoid as we don’t want to be bothered by constuction at Plazzo / Encore?
We want to eat at some of the hotel resauants when we stay there but you can’t book online – comming from the Uk this means an expensive phone call if we need to book in advance – will we be able to book tables at places like Daniel Bouloud, SW and the Country Club when we arrive or will they be sold out ? (we are staying for over two weeks but I don’t know how far in advance you can book at the hotel).
We are also thinking of eating at Onda at the Mirage (and seeing Love) but I’m not sure if the restaurant will be open or disrupted as part of the ongoing works at the Mirgage should we avoid this?
Lastly do you know if they have chilled water at the pool at Wynn Las Vgas like they do at Bellagio & is there anywhere at the pool to buy ice creams snacks etc or do you have to get these some where else?

Well, you have construction on both sides of Wynn Las Vegas. The Strip side with Palazzo and the golf course side with Encore… Neither are really that big of a deal though. The Palazzo construction is probably a bit louder but neither should be too disruptive. Other than that, high floors offer better views. You need to book popular restaurants in advance, yes. SW for certain, and likely DB and the Country Club. You should be able to book the reservations now (up to one year in advance typically). Onda is open despite the construction. The lounge area is being rebuilt but no construction takes place during dinner hours. There are two bars at the Wynn Las Vegas pool that serve all sorts of drinks including water. As far as ice cream, etc… – the cocktail waitress at the pool has an appetizers menu that includes some ice cream related items.

Hunter, I’ll be hitting up Tao on a Thursday night around 1:30. What kind of line can I expect around then? I signed up on the Napkin Night guestlist. What line do I get in or who do I approach about this at the club? Do you know if the Venetian offers its hotel guests any cover or line passes? Also are Voodoo Lounge’s free VIP passes of any use after 10:30? Thanks!

I haven’t done the Napkin Nights thing – you should probably check with them as they aren’t directly affiliated with the hotel. Sometimes guests will get passes when they check-in, when they are available. Still, that doesn’t avoid a long line. No matter what, expect to wait. Thursdays are pretty popular and a wait of 30-45 minutes is probably about normal. Of course this can vary. There are different types of passes for the Voodoo Lounge but if you have them in hand, the rules should be clearly printed.

I’m hosting a bachelor party for my best friend Aug 4-6. We’re staying at the Mirage and hoping to hit up Tryst and Pure as well as get a cabana. Unfortunately it seems like only VIP members get to make reservations for any of these things. Do you have any tips on how we might be able to get on the guestlists for the clubs or bribe someone to let us reserve a cabana?

Thanks for your response regarding parlor suites at the Wynn. When I said meeting area I meant just for coffee or to chat for us four girls. Does that central area have a bathroom, small frig or coffee pot? We just need a place to meet up. It sounds like it would work. Do you have any idea of the cost? Thanks.

Got it. The Parlor and Salon suites both have bar areas with mini-bars, small fridges, and half bath in the living room area. For what you’re mentioning, it would be perfect and quite luxurious. As far as costs, they range wildly based on dates and availability. I’ve seen the Parlor Suites anywhere from $299/night to $899/night.

Hi Hunter…Can one use the Red key Card for “Red Card” points after the initial stay is over, or is it unusable after checking out and a new loyalty card membership would be required?

You can use it as a regular slot card after your stay is over, yes… When you return to Wynn to stay again, make sure that they find your Red Card ID in the system so your new key can be linked to your account…

My friends and I were looking at some bellagio pictures on this web site (under photos and videos). We noticed that one picture showed the large pool with a construction site on the side of it. Is this the parking garage they are talking about? Also, they are going to the Bellagio over the summer and wanted to know if this is done yet. Again, thanks for your input!!!!

Those pictures were taken when the Spa Tower was under construction. It was completed in December 2004. There is no construction anywhere at Bellagio that you would see as a guest. The new employee garage is off in a corner that isn’t part of the public areas. The garage is not yet completed.

My top recommendation would be Mystere and then perhaps LOVE, new at The Mirage. It’s different but I really liked it. I can’t really recommend Zumanity. Didn’t dig it. Le Reve is sorta like O so if you like water, it’s a workable replacement.

It’s true, it is all torn up to make way for a new Asian fusion restaurant that is opening in August. The Mirage is still in a bit of a transition but most of the renovations have been completed. A new ultra lounge, Revolution, will be opening near the end of the year in a space near the Caribe Cafe.

Can you tell me more about the Wynn Parlor Suites or any of the hotels that may offer a two bedroom suite with a common meeting area. We would also prefer that the bedrooms have two separate beds but can live with it if they don’t.

The Parlor Suites at Wynn are great rooms. I’ve been in one a few times and they are very nice. The Salon Suites are larger but the Parlor Suites have quite a bit of space as well. You reference a ‘meeting area’ – the living room could be used for meetings as it has a couch and several chairs. I wouldn’t want the meeting to have more than a few people though. One of the bedrooms (the main bedroom) will have a single king bed, the other will almost always have a single king but sometimes you can get two queens in the second room. This is just the way they are setup. If you need a room with a lot of meeting space you might also look at the ‘Hospitality Suites’ at The Mirage – they are designed for holding meetings.

My husband and I are going to Vegas the end of July. We received 3 free nights at the Mirage and will be taking a friend who has never been to Vegas before. I have heard that the Mirage is undergoing massive lobby and atrium renovations. Do the renovations take away from the overall feel of the Mirage? We love the hotel and are excited to bring a friend who has never experienced the Vegas scene, but are worried we will be disappointed with all the construction. Also, we will be able to take advantage of invited guest check-in since we were given the 3 free nights?

The Mirage is in the closing stages of a fairly massive renovation. Two of the last pieces, a sprucing up of the jazz bar at Onda and the installation of a new restaurant in the atrium will be completed in early July and late August, respectively. I stayed there at the height of the construction and also again after the biggest pieces were complete. At this point I think it is totally safe to stay at The Mirage. Hunter, Great site…My wife and I (both in our thirties) will be staying at the Mirage for three nights in January. I would like to either start our trip one day early on Wednesday or leave one day late having to stay an extra night on Sunday. We would like for this extra day/night to be booked at either THEhotel or at Red Rocks, which do you suggest? Also, of these two days, Wed. or Sun., which day would be more enjoyable in terms of active and being able to get the ‘better’ room being that reservations are based upon availability. It depends what you’re looking for. Red Rock feels like you’re not in Las Vegas – it’s very far away from ‘the action’. It’s a nice place though a friend recently told me that he was less than impressed by some aspects of the operation. If you’re looking for an escape, Red Rock should fit the bill. THEHotel is the best place to stay on the South Strip… Part of Mandalay Bay, it’s pretty hopping… I’ve enjoyed my stays at THEHotel and subsequently wouldn’t consider staying in the main Mandalay Bay tower much of an option anymore. ‘MIX’, on the roof, has a great lounge with fantastic city views. You’ll probably find less folks on Wednesday than Sunday as some people extend their weekend and stay Sunday night. Have fun!

I love the site. Excellent source of information. I read somewhere that O’Sheas was closing, and I love that place as a hang out. Going to Vegas July 9th, can you provide me with details of when it is closing?

According to Flamingo staff, only part of O’Shea’s is being converted into a tattoo parlor from Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil. From what I’m told, the casino will remain open during construction.

is it just hard getting into clubs at spring break or is it always like that went at spring break and it was very hard getting in anywhere 1 of best nightspots is definetely coyote ugly

Any time that is busier than normal means longer lines for the clubs. Spring Break typically wasn’t a Vegas holiday but that seems to be changing a bit as the crowds grow.

What can you tell me about the Marquee Suite and Pool @ MGM? I’m going down with a bunch of friends (all in our twenties) and we’re looking to party it up and chill at the pool! We tried to get the 2-bedroom at the Mirage but they’re sold out. Any other suggestions welcome! Thanks!

Thanks. The Marquee Suite at MGM Grand is of above average quality in an average hotel. The room is large and spacious… It’s probably a pretty good home base for a group of folks looking to party. The pool at MGM is also pretty average. Not bad but not great… A bit smaller than you’d think for such a big hotel. Mirage was full, huh? Ok, maybe look at a two bedroom Parlor or Salon Suite at Wynn Las Vegas just to see what the prices are like. A much better setup if you can swing it… Also check THEHotel at Mandalay Bay – great pool and the best part of the Mandalay complex.

Hi again. I have another question for you. I came across a website as I was searching for some discounted vegas shows for my honeymoon. it is www.lasvegasperks.com and I guess all you do is buy a coupon book for only $20 dollars and it gives you awesome discounts for restaurants and shows. It almost sounds too good to be true. Do you know anything about this? or if it is ligitimate? Thanks in advance.

A lot of places offer discounts and coupons but it is important to read the fine print. There are of course some good deals in there but you’ll also find some time and amenity restricted offerings and also some discounts for less than desirable restaurants and other offerings. ‘No Free Lunch’ applies in Las Vegas as other places, even if good values can be found.

My Fiance and I are going to Vegas the second week of August to be married and are considering a Tower Suite at Wynn, or a Delux Room at Thehotel. Are ceremony is at Mandalay. Our primary concerns are luxury, service, pool time (no kids), and cool architecture. What do you think?

We will be visiting Vegas for the first time in July. I’m interested in a jacuzzi suite. I’ve read some answers to others’ questions and I think I’ve narrowed it down to the Luxor or the Petite Suite at TI. Since we’re 1st timers, which of these would you recommend?

I think my answer depends on how important the jacuzzi suite is to your room choice. The room at Luxor is more of a true jacuzzi suite – a real jacuzzi is right there next to the window, overlooking the Strip. The suite at TI has a tub with bubbles in the bathroom – not exactly the same thing. I think TI has a better location, better service and is better kept up. Luxor isn’t a hellhole or anything but in some places it has degraded a bit and needs renovation.

Hunter, my wife and I will be at the Wynn for an extended weekend on the 29th through the 30th. We have stayed at Bellagio in the past and have checked out the Mac King show. We have lined up LaReve and Blue Man group but are interested in daytime shows. Your thoughts? Also, are there pretty good deals at Tix 4 Tonight anymore?

Tix 4 Tonight is still around and yes, they often have some good deals. Of course, you could stand in line and not get anything or they may not have shows you want to see. Some shows, such as the various Cirque shows, do not sell tickets this way. As far as afternoon shows, there are some options… Bally’s is hosting ‘The Price is Right’ most afternoons if you’re looking for something different. Also, Ron Lucas over at The Rio is popular. You might also consider seeing what is playing at the IMAX theater at Luxor – they might have a flick you want to see.

Hey Hunter, great site! I’ve been told by a couple of friends of mine that not many years ago there were all kinds of flight + hotel deals you could get on the cheap if you showed something like $500 in cash you were taking with you. Do you know if these things are still around and where to find them? The more I have to spend on a flight, the less I have to spend at the tables. Thanks.

Interesting… I’ve not heard about this particular arrangement but perhaps the details have become a bit muddled, a la a game of ‘Telephone’. Generally speaking, $500 is front money (money you deposit into the cage and draw down with markers, similar to casino credit but based on deposit) isn’t going to impress any casino at which you want to stay. Also, getting airfare reimbursed, even partially, is one of the highest level comps – any time a casino has to outlay real cash for a comp it is hard to get. Stuff like internal services they can comp and only charge back wholesale costs to the other departments, etc… Anyway, sorry, I don’t have any more info on your setup. Maybe some kind of junket?

Hi Hunter! I have a reservation at Prime Steakhouse. I have been reading mixed reviews and wanted to know if you have an opinion about it. Also, are jackets required for men?

It’s not bad. The food has been great each time I’ve been there and the service has ranged from very good to excellent, never bad. The thing about Prime though is that it doesn’t really stand out. Steakhouses are a dime a dozen in Vegas and Prime stands up as a top tier place but not the best… I think the best steaks in Vegas are at Delmonico, SW and though a different vibe, Wynn’s Country Club. Jackets are not required but they are suggested.

I have a question about the best place to stay for a 21st birthday party. I am planning for a group of 5 women to celebrate a 21st birthday party and was wondering which hotel you think would be the most fun and memorable. People in the party have expressed interest in the MGM Sky Lofts, as well as a suite at the Wynn. I would love it if you could recomend a great hotel that would do the best job of taking care of the five of us and celebrating a 21st birthday.

A good friend of mine has stayed in the Skylofts and according to him, the service is insane – literally people falling over you to serve you. To the point of being embarrassing. Certainly memorable. Wynn Las Vegas offers more in terms of the complete package. At MGM Grand, the Skylofts are very nice but the rest of the hotel is nowhere near Wynn Las Vegas. At Wynn you will be well taken care of in all aspects of your stay, especially in a Salon Suite… Or, if costs don’t matter, look into a ‘Fairway Villa’ at Wynn – overlooking the golf course, these are huge rooms with great views and awesome service. Enjoy!

My boyfriend and I will be driving to Vegas (from upstate NY) next month for fun and research (we have dreams of moving there within the next few years). Here are my questions (thanks in advance for your patience and info!)…
- I’ve heard rumors of crime/violence/immigration-related rioting off the strip. Any truth to these? Specific locations?
- Do you know of a good web site that discusses day-to-day living, by and for locals, near the strip? (We’ll be checking out our housing options…)
- Now for the fun stuff: As a massage therapist, I’d love to work at a top notch spa. My plans are to visit the Bellagio’s spa, Bathhouse Spa at THEhotel, and Wet at TI (where we’ll be staying). Can you think of anyone, besides my service providers, that I should casually chat with about working at said spas? Heard anything about Wet?

That’s a long drive… As it is a big city, Las Vegas has crime and violence but not more than a city of comparable size, perhaps a bit less. One neat podcast for folks interested in moving to Las Vegas is the ‘Living in Las Vegas Podcast’, done by folks that recently moved from CA. You can get it here. I’m not that familiar with the workings of the spa industry so I’m not sure how much help I can give. I would also look at the spa at Wynn Las Vegas… Plus they are building a new spa at the Encore expansion and also at the upcoming Palazzo hotel.
