Back from a short vacation (not Las Vegas), some more Vegas news:
I have more information on the changes coming to The Mirage.
- STACK Restaurant and Bar - this new restaurant will feature American cuisine and replace the current Chinese room, Moongate.
- Fin - A new contemporary Chinese restaurant that replaces Renoir. The room will contain a 'spectacular water feature'.
- Kokomo's - the update to the popular steakhouse will include making it more visible to the lobby area. I'm not sure how much of the rainforest/atrium will have to be reconfigured but the restaurant will no longer be 'hidden' as it is today.
- Mink - This new lounge is a reconfiguration/reimagining of the Baccarat Bar lounge.
- Japonais - A restaurant featuring Japanese cuisine with a European flair, it replaces Mikado AND the Ava lounge - a major design change on that side of the hotel.
- Jet Nightclub - Looking at the property map at mirage.com, it is not clear how guests will enter the club from inside the hotel - it may be as simple as an entrance along the North corridor past the lobby.
So, some specific details about what goes and what stays. We're keeping a close eye on this one.

Friends who live in Las Vegas went to The Mirage this week. They liked the look of the new high limit area and said it looks better than Wynn's. Maybe Mirage won't suffer the same fate as Treasure Island.
I liked it too. It's not very Mirage-y though. More THEHotel looking... We'll see how it goes... I'm angling for an interview with the head of the design team.
Detroit and Hunter,
WHich one do you guys like better? Wynn's or Mirgae's.
I hope the works at Kokomos will be done by the december,I want to take my fiance there....I used to like the "old" Kokomos and dreamed many years about dining there with my loved one..
A - I'm not sure what you are referring to.
Opps. Sorry .Which high limit area do yoi like better. The Mirage's or Wynn's.
The room at The Mirage seems larger and contains a bar. One nice thing about Wynn's room is easy access to the South Tower Suites part of the hotel.
The Mirage's high limit room is without a doubt gorgeous. Hunter is right on--if THEhotel had a casino, that's what it would look like. I've heard Wynn's high limit room has balconies overlooking the pool, but I didn't explore too deeply (because I really don't belong in there).
If the whole casino at Mirage is going for this kind of look, then MGM/Mirage might be doing something right. Nevertheless, I'll miss the old look.
